Quake Shakes California-Mexico Border Region

A small earthquake has struck an area near the California-Mexico border region but there were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.

A preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-3.6 quake struck at 2:37 p.m. near Guadelupe Victoria in Mexico. The epicenter lies about 45 miles south of Calexico.

San Diego County sheriff's spokesman Lt. Gary Steadman says no damage or injuries have been reported in the area.
