2 Trapped When Car Slams Into Home

A car crashed into a home in Spring Valley Friday, trapping two teens inside the vehicle.

The 17-year-old male driver lost control of his car in the 9900 block of Estrella Drive at about 2:15 p.m., according to Cal Fire officials. The vehicle slid down a hill, soared over a fence, rolled on its side and crashed through the front door of a home.

Both the driver and a 16-year-old girl inside the car had to be freed by emergency crews.

Homeowner Julie Todd was shaken up but not injured. Her husband was not home at the time.

"It was extremely loud. I just, I froze. I didn't know what to do," Todd said. "And my first reaction was, 'Where are my dogs?' Because I have two dogs, so I was hoping that they were OK. And I looked outside and I heard the two passengers in the car were trying to get out, and they were scared."

The teenagers were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and Todd's two dogs and a cat were not harmed.

Inspectors say it is completely unsafe to be in the house at this point. Todd and her husband will be staying with parents until their home is fixed.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating, and they say the driver has not been cited.
