Teen Victim Faces Alleged Attackers in Court

A 14-year-old Escondido girl who was stabbed multiple times in her home two months ago sat in Juvenile Court on Wednesday to watch a hearing for two of the three 14-year-old suspects accused of attacking her. It was the first time she's seen her attackers since the incident, the North County Times reported.

The victim, dressed in a denim skirt and a T-shirt, sat in the front row of the courtroom with her family. She walked without assistance and didn't have any visible injuries from the May 3 attack in her Goldenrod Street home, the paper reported.

But several stab wounds, and a subsequent operation at Rady Children's Hospital, left scars on her abdomen, said her mother Stephanie Wagner. The girl also continues to see a counselor about the attack, she said.

No decision has been made about whether to try the 14-year-old suspects -- two girls and one boy -- as adults, though attorneys speaking to the families of the two girls said Wednesday the Juvenile Probation Department has recommended the case be moved to the adult system, according to the paper.

All three are charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
