The new Dune Raiders slide will tower nearly 30 feet over the tiny world of Legoland if park operators have their way.
The ride is scheduled to open 4th of July weekend, Legoland officials said Friday. Carlsbad's Planning Commission unanimously approved the plans for the project earlier in the week, reported the North County Times.
"That's what we needed approval-wise ... now we just have to start building it," Legoland spokeswoman Beth Downing told the paper Friday.
Downing said the company's plans do not need to go before the City Council or the state Coastal Commission because the new slide will be built within the park's core area.
