High Tea for Pooch

Local canines and their owners sip and mingle for charity tea party

      How often do you get an invitation with the words: High Tea for Pups. Yup. It's a one -of- a- kind tea party for local canines and their owners at of all places a winery. Throw in a pet product company that makes holistic food for animals and well you, have a one-of-a-kind social event to raise money for the San Diego Humane Society, March 24.

      The Honest Kitchen is a holistic and human-grade pet food company that's come up with an herbal tea for pets called Lithe. It's made to support nomal joint health, flexion and movement according to Lucy Postins, president and founder of the company. 

      The get- together will be at Cafe Merlot located in theBernardo Winery. "We first started working with (them) at the end of last year to help develop the restaurant's revolutionary "Bone Appetit" menu for pets, and are thrilled to introduce dog owners to their unique menu and our foods at this fun event, " adds Postins. The tea party will connect pets and owners with others in the San Diego area and give those attending a chance to socialize while trying some healthy pet-friendly cuisine, she says.

       Although the event  from 2:30-4:30pm is free of charge, attendees are encouraged to offer a $5 donation for each cup of LIthe herbal tea. The Honest Kitchen will donate 100 percent of all contributions to the San Diego Humane Society.
