Forum Planned in Wake of Jet Crash

City officials have scheduled a community meeting in University City following a deadly plane crash this week that killed.

Young Mi Yoon, 36; her daughters Grace, 15 months, and Rachel, 2 months; and mother-in-law, Suk Im Kim, 60; were killed by a fighter jet that lost power and by chance crashed through their home and burst into flames. Two homes were destroyed in the crash, and several others were damage.

The event is being coordinated by new City Councilwoman Sherri Lightner, who took office on the day of the crash. The meeting will be held Thursday night at 6 p.m. at University High School, which is located in the 6900 block of Genessee Avenue. Also attending the event will be San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and representatives from the United States Marine Corps, and the San Diego police and fire departments.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Yoon for his deeply personal and terrible loss," Lightner said in a news release, "but they are also with the residents of South UC, whose sense of security and safety has been shaken to its foundation."

School officials and other community leaders are also expected to appear.
