Escorted Trips Takes World Beat for Sophomore Year

Reality House West's Escorted Trips music and arts festival returns on Saturday, Sept. 28

Last time we checked in with Ignant Benches, they were getting ready to take their young talent to the Che Cafe stage for the inaugural Escorted Trips festival.

According to their Twitter, they're "back at it again.... Bigger. Badder. Hotter."

At Balboa Park's World Beat Cultural Center on Saturday, Sept. 28, "the most rambunctious band in the south side of California" will join a lineup that includes the Licks, Hate Drugs, Inspired & the Sleep, the Anodynes, Precious Kid, Future Human, Leon Canoe and more to be announced.

Featuring food from the World Beat Cafe and a 21+ bar, Escorted Trips' sophomore year is set to bring another fun, all-ages event to the San Diego music community.

Festival founders Joel Carrillo, Martin Sohikish and Christopher Gorrie are trying to provide a medium to promote what they see as an underserved market, putting on shows beyond this festival with their production company, Reality House West.

Last year's Escorted Trips, which featured music from Fashion Jackson, Imagery Machine, Ethics, Retra, Nite Lapse, Sights and Sages, Miss New Buddha, Contact and Trip Advisor -- in addition to art from prominent San Diego musicians Katie Howard of Big Bloom and Dani Bell -- proved the trio was on to something.

And with promising young band Ignant Benches in the mix once again, Escorted Trips could be around for many years to come.

Escorted Trips music and arts festival takes over the World Beat Cultural Center in Balboa Park on Saturday, Sept. 28. Get tickets here.
