It's time to take a good, long look at the sun.
This is the International Year of Astronomy, and on Saturday, you can bring it home with a trip to Balboa Park's Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. As part of Astronomy Day, there will be a number of hands-on activities for the whole family, including telescopes providing a bird's eye view of the sun, provided of course, that Mother Nature cooperates.
There is a chance of showers on Saturday -- at least in the morning -- with partial clearing after the storm blows through. That's good news in this case, because Astronomy Day doesn't get under way until noon, then runs until 4 p.m.
