A Seussical Display For You at the Zoo!

Oh, the faces you’ll know at the San Diego Zoo and we’re not talking about the animals.

Young and old alike will appreciate a new display of literary characters inside the Children's Zoo. All are from the abstract imagination of legendary author Ted “Dr. Seuss” Geisel.

Go hang with your favorite “Seussical” friends like The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, The Grinch, Yertle the Turtle, and Sam-I-Am that have been sculpted into four to eight feet tall bronze statues.

An illustrated panel describing the character and its story accompanies the sculptures, which are scattered around various places of the Zoo.

The sculptures are temporarily being lent to the Zoo until October and are a tribute to Ted and Audrey Geisel, who have made tremendous contributions to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park.

The Dr. Seuss touring sculpture garden highlights the bronze tribute collection with a special focus on the Lorax character. Visitors are encouraged to follow the Lorax book’s message and “speak for the trees” by making a pledge on behalf of resource conservation in an adjacent pledge box.
