A Detroit mansion once owned by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy is back on the market.

The 10,500-square-foot home in the city's Boston-Edison neighborhood is listed for nearly $1.6 million, according to The Detroit News

"Just based off of the response we've gotten from the market, I think it will be a successful sale," real estate agent Deborah Smith told the newspaper.

Smith said celebrities and foreign and local business owners have shown interest in the estate.

The Italian Renaissance Revival home was listed last year for $1.3 million before it was taken off the market. Attorney and owner Cynthia Reaves listed it in 2010 for about $1.4 million.

Smith has said the housing "market was a little depressed" then and "wasn't ready" for the home.

Renovations have been made on the home over the past year, Smith said.

Gordy bought it 1967 and lived there a few years before moving to Los Angeles.

The home also has a 1,100-square-foot apartment with three bedrooms, a five-car carriage house, and athletic facilities.

It sits on 2.2 acres and was built in 1917 by lumber baron Nels Michelson.
