I don't know if it's because SxSW is over or people just want to flock to San Diego for our gorgeous weather, but there are some stellar shows in town tonight and I'm totally here for it. At the Belly Up, it's a night of darkwave synthpop with Cold Cave. The band recently dropped a new single, which is their first new music since 2011, but I suspect the fans at the show will be stoked to hear the hits. Meanwhile at the Casbah, South African singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou is going to stun with her gorgeous voice and unique style. House of Blues has Catfish & the Bottlemen, Soda Bar's got Wand, and Golden Plates stop into the Merrow for their album release. If you decide to check out that show, get there early enough for Husky Loops who, at first listen, kinda gave me a Gorillaz vibe -- which is to say I totally dig it.
