Sounds Like San Diego: October 5

At the risk of being a braggart, I get to see some really amazing concerts and shows. Nearly every night of the week I am prowling the great indie music scene and seeing cool bands. I never take this for granted at all, but sometimes there are bands that lie just on the cusp...those bands that I know (or at least hope) will be huge, even if huge to me means a sold-out show at one of our local venues like the Casbah with just a 250-capacity room. Perhaps there is also some bias, like if you're a band from Iceland or Sweden or Scotland, and you're touring, and you take the time to play San Diego, even if it's at the side stage of the House of Blues, I'm going to pay attention.

Admiral Fallow is one of those bands. On Friday, they're playing the 5th Avenue Sidestage at the House of Blues, and I can only imagine that in a very short time they'll be at Coachella or making waves at South By Southwest or anywhere the tastemakers will find them. But for now I get to pretend that I discovered them, that I am telling you not to miss this early show in a super tiny venue, and that when you walk out of the show, your mind will be blown away. If you're a fan of the sound of Mumford and Sons or Frightened Rabbit or even something like the Lumineers, I think you'll find that Admiral Fallow is right up your alley.
