Sounds Like San Diego: Dec. 18

Jhene Aiko plays a second night at Observatory North Park

It's time for your concert choices to fully throttle back from what they usually are as we get closer to Christmas, but you still have some worthy choices if you're looking to get out on the town this week. Tonight at the Observatory, R&B singer/songwriter Jhene Aiko plays a second night after selling out on Sunday. Meanwhile in the indie world, "ghost-punks" Hott MT play at Blonde. The LA band is infamously known for stalking Wayne Coyne by knocking on his door in Oklahoma and begging and/or demanding a collaboration, depending on who's telling the story. It resulted in not only a collaboration, but a music video, new music and a new fan. A friend of mine says they've got a bit of an MGMT vibe live so I think we're going to have to check it out. The Casbah stage will be jam-packed with the 14-piece Christmas band Martin & the Big Nativity Scene with Martin Robles, the man behind the band. Catch country at Soda Bar with Oregon's Caitlin Jemma, see Beneath the Trees at Bar Pink or head out to Sycuan for Tony Orlando.
