The Heavy Guilt are one of San Diego's most beloved bands. Beyond that, however, they are all close personal friends of mine. My favorite story to tell about the band is about the time they had a midweek show at the Hotel Cafe. It was understood that to get a good slot at the famous cafe, you had to prove your worth. We drove up in their van and caught this interesting band before them. Turns out that band was the Lumineers, and, despite separate ticketing for each band, I love to remind them that the Lumineers once opened for them. The Heavy Guilt celebrates the release of their third album at the Irenic on Saturday. Joined by Little Hurricane, Dead Feather Moon, Trouble in the Wind and, from LA, the Steelwells. This show is not to be missed if you want to see San Diego's finest.
