Paranormal Activity: Tom DeLonge Plots New TV Series

The former Blink-182 co-frontman has announced a new TV series based on his "Strange Times" graphic novel

Music, books, UFO academies -- now TV shows: Apparently there is nothing Tom DeLonge can't do. On Monday, Dec. 10, the former Blink-182 guitarist/vocalist announced that his 2016 graphic novel, "Strange Times," is currently being developed into a television series for TBS.

The novel, which follows the adventures of a group of young San Diego skateboarders as they investigate paranormal activity, should make for immense TV fun (after all, stranger things have happened). The show will be written and executive produced by Aaron Karo, with DeLonge also serving as an executive producer.

According to a new interview with Variety, the Poway-based singer/writer/UFO-enthusiast (who also helms the band Angels & Airwaves) said he's had his mind on a screen adaptation of "Strange Times" for a while now.

"This is a dream I’ve had for over 10 years and it’s finally a reality," he said. "All the stories and themes I work on are meant to be shared through multiple mediums and on different platforms -- film, TV, books, music and so on. 'Strange Times' began as an interactive website where people shared weird, paranormal stories -- a lot of them with credible evidence. That helped inspire the story behind the graphic novel and also a prose novel that I published. This is exactly what my company To The Stars Academy of Arts and Science does. We hope to create something that could be described as sort of a 'science fiction Disney,' where our entertainment franchises are worlds that are inspired and informed by our own next-generation science division."

Last year, we reported on DeLonge's new alien academy, which according to his social media posts, plans to (among other endeavors) "build a revolutionary technology that can change life as we know it" with the help of former high-ranking government officials and senior intelligence officers from the CIA, Department of Defense, etc. DeLonge also wrote that they "plan to build an exotic vehicle that uses Advanced Electromagnetic Propulsion to bend the fabric of space-time."

While we have yet to see any announcements (or evidence) of the sort, we have no doubt that they're cooking up big things at To the Stars. Hey, going where no man has gone before doesn't just happen overnight. Perhaps the new "Strange Times" TV show is just the first in a series of big unveilings for DeLonge and Co. -- but whatever the future holds, we'll certainly be along for the ride.
