Katherine Heigl Explains Why She Left "Grey's Anatomy"

Katherine Heigl has parted ways with "Grey's Anatomy" and it's not for her film career, she swears.

"I am done. We just finalized our agreement," said Heigl in the current issue of Entertainment Weekly. "It's sad, but it's what I wanted."

The cover hitting newsstands on Friday features Heigl seemingly praying for forgiveness with the large quote "I'm Sorry."

It's family, not film, listed as the official reason why the 31-year-old actress the actress sought to leave the show despite having 18 months on her contract.

“I started a family and it changed everything for me,” said Heigl in the extracts of the interview which have appeared online, “It changed my desire to work full-time.”

The star took a three-month family leave from Grey’s this season to bond with her newly-adopted daughter, Naleigh.

How sure a thing is her leaving? Here's a big sign. While she was supposed to appear in the final five episodes so as to bring the ending to a bang -- even that's not happening. The Jan. 21 episode will be her last as Dr. Isobel Stevens.

ABC Studios is even looking forward releasing a statement that "wishes her well."

"Everyone at "Grey's Anatomy" is now focused on delivering a shocking season finale and a great show for seasons to come.”
