US Air Guitar, the official air guitar association of the United States, is back for another monster trek across the country in search of the world’s best air guitarist, according to yelp.com. Their mission is devoted to taking our nation’s unofficial pastime out of the living room and putting it up on the world stage.
No, this is not a joke. One winner from every city will be sent to the US Finals, and then that winner is off to Finland to compete for the world air-guitar crown.
People who have signed up already include: the mayor of a small town in Wisconsin, an FBI agent in Salt Lake City, a Shea Stadium hot-dog vendor, and the mascot of the Denver Nuggets. Needless to say, sign up spots are going quick, but there are still some openings at downtown's Casbah on Kettner Blvd.
Buy tickets and/or sign up for this event Saturday, June 20 at the Casbah venue because lets face it, how great is it to watch people faux-rock out. Tickets for general admission are $14, but signing up to compete is free! Contestants must arrive 1 hour before doors open on the night of the event, where you must bring a pre-edited CD with a 60 second track.
The event website has more on rules and registration.
