Artie Ojeda

Born, raised and educated in San Diego, Artie Ojeda returned to his hometown in 1996 to be a reporter at NBC 7/39.

Prior to coming to NBC 7/39, Ojeda was weekend sports anchor at KCOP-TV in Los Angeles for five years. While there, the Associated press named Ojeda the best sports reporter of 1995.

You may recognize Artie from when he was a reporter at KFMB-TV in the late 1980's. It was there that he earned an Emmy for Best Performance in News and a Golden Mic for Outstanding Coverage of the Cerritos Plane Crash.

In 1998, Ojeda won a Golden Mic for best feature series reporting and a San Diego Press Club Award for Best Series of Reports.

A graduate of Serra High in Tierrasanta, Ojeda first attended City College. He was the editor of "The City Times" and won a statewide first place award for newspaper editing. He continued on to the San Diego State School of Journalism, and interned at many local stations throughout college. Upon graduation, Ojeda developed his reporting and anchoring skills while at KGUN-TV in Tucson and KTAB-TV in Texas.

Artie is a board member with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and resides in San Diego with his wife and two daughters.
