NBC 7/39 teamed up with Junior Achievement to give students a valuable experience.  In addition to its core K-12 classroom programs, Junior Achievement of San Diego also offers a unique new learning experience for 5th graders called JA BizTown.

JA BizTown encourages students to learn about the free enterprise system through active participation in a simulated town. Student experiences vary from working in a bank, a television station, or a retail store, to managing personal finance such as writing checks and accounting. With a variety of hands-on activities, students realize the relationship between what they learn in school and their successful participation in a simulated economy.

This approach helps students understand their economic world and prepares them for academic learning and lifelong achievement. JA BizTown also provides teachers with a new approach to teaching economics, and parents are given an opportunity to actively participate in their children's learning as program volunteers.
