The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club closed training Thursday morning after a problem with its main Polytrack, track CEO Joe Harper told the North County Times.
Del Mar had a separation of materials in its stretch run and closed the track to all horses. Repairs began immediately and Harper told the paper Del Mar hopes to have the track open by noon. Harper has asked some horsemen to put horses on the track at that time in order to test the track.
Harper expects Thursday's card to go on as scheduled.
"I'm always worried about everything," Harper told the paper. "The track will be fine. It's our fault. We didn't do the right thing sooner."
