Woman Struck, Killed by Car in El Cajon

Witnesses say the woman was talking to her friends and unaware of traffic when struck

    A woman talking to her friends at a bus stop in El Cajon was struck and killed by a car Wednesday night.

    Witnesses say the 50-year-old woman was wearing dark clothing and was unaware of the cars driving by in the 1100 block of E. Main St., according a report from the El Cajon Police Department.

    A PT cruiser was traveling east on Main St. when it struck the woman.

    A passerby administered first aid until medics arrived. Shortly after paramedics arrived, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene, despite extensive life-saving efforts.

    The driver immediately stopped after the accident and is cooperating with officers investigating the crash.

    The investigation is still on-going, and police are currently notifying the woman's family.
