Coast Guard Rescues Man from Fishing Boat

A 65-year-old man aboard a sport-fishing boat was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard crew Friday after he began experiencing chest and back pain.

According to U.S. Coast Guard officials, the medical evacuation happened in waters approximately 166 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border just before 3 p.m.

Crews from the 90-foot, San Diego-based Polaris Supreme alerted the Coast Guard.

An aircrew was able to hoist the patient from the fishing vessel into a helicopter. The man was then transported to Sector San Diego and turned over to medics for further treatment, Coast Guard officials said.
