A suspicious object found at the Viejas Casino & Outlet Center in Alpine prompted an evacuation of the outlet center on Thursday evening, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept.
Someone spotted a metal tank with cables and reported it to Viejas security staff at about 4.30 p.m. on Thursday, according to investigators.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene.
The casino decided to conduct a voluntary evacuation of the outlet center. The rest of the casino was not evacuated, according to Viejas officials.
Bomb and arson investigators were on scene evaluating the situation. The suspicious object was found to be harmless.
Casino officials say they evacuated the outlet center in an "abundance of caution."
