A 17-year old is under arrested, accused of attacking a woman from behind when she entered the elevator of her apartment complex in Solana Beach.

San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call of an assault at 877 Stevens Ave. just after midnight on Oct. 20

“The suspect held a knife to her neck and threatened to kill the victim if she made any noise,” said Detective Jeff Schmidt.

The victim started screaming and fighting and managed to escape from her attacker with only minor injuries, deputies said.

The teen, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, was already a suspect in the crime when a tipster identified him as the alleged perpetrator, Schmidt told our media partners the North County Times.

He's been booked into juvenile hall.
