Southwestern College Issues Safety Alert Concerning Potential Threat

Southwestern College officials have issued a safety alert to students and employees regarding a college student.

The student, identified by the college as Nataliya Holmes, has made a "credible threat of violence" and may be a potential threat to the safety and welfare of herself and others, according to Lillian Leopold, Chief Public Information and Government Relations Officer for the college.

Alexa Pena was one of the students who received the text messages from the college.

"It does concern me a little bit," Pena told NBC 7.

Southwestern campus police have released a photograph of the student, asking anyone to call police at (619) 482-6380 if she is spotted on any college campus.

Holmes Facebook posts are filled with transgender issues.
Her most recent one on Monday noted how she wanted to file a complaint about not having urinals in every women's restroom.
She also noted how walking around on Southwestern's campus in a bra or panties for three days has opened her eyes to having the brain of a woman...but having male anatomy.

Holmes'  Facebook posts are filled with mentions of transgender equality.  Her most recent one on Monday noted how she wanted to file a complaint about not having urinals in every women's restroom.

She also wrote how walking around on Southwestern's campus in a bra or underwear for three days opened her eyes to the potential that she has the brain of a woman, but the anatomy of a man.

Another student, Mark Delgadillo said he takes night classes on campus and is thankful for the alert.

"It just keeps you more on guard. Makes me want to look out more if I see people walking by themselves," Delgadillo said. "I don't know if I could prevent something, but definitely, I'll be more mindful."

Point Loma Nazarene University forwarded the alert to its students and staff because the PLNU Adult Degree Completion program is located on the campus of Southwestern.

Questions about campus safety at any PLNU location may be directed to the PLNU Department of Public Safety at (619) 849-2201.
