South Bay Power Plant Step Closer to Shutdown

Two generators will be shut down December 31 st.

The South Bay Power Plant is a step closer to being shut down.

The state's energy officials sent a letter to the company that leases and operates the plant. The letter said the plant's permission to operate two of its four generators will end Dec. 31.

The two remaining generators will provide emergency power during peak use. Chula Vista officials have complained the plant is an eyesore and have tried to remove it for years.
