The mayor of Oceanside will be on medical leave until August, according to city officials.
Mayor Jim Wood is currently hospitalized and will be having a medical procedure done next week. His condition is improving every day.
City officials said the mayor's office will remain fully staffed during his leave. Deputy Mayor Chuck Lowery will fill in until Wood returns.
Wood will be on medical leave through the City Council meeting of Aug. 9, according to the city.
