When they won the regionals competition in Palm Springs, they couldn’t believe it. It’s Mission Estancia Elementary School’s first year participating in the Odyssey of the Mind program, but its students have shown great talent.

Odyssey of the Mind is a worldwide educational program in which students from kindergarten and college try to solve challenges in a creative manner.

The Mission Estancia students have three groups competing to solve scientific challenges and problems relating to their community. All three teams have to create skits and perform their problem-solving strategies in the most creative way they can.

The teams will compete for the state title at Brentwood, California on Mar. 31.

They are fundraising money to rent a bus that will take them to the state competition.
