Hydrant Is Hit & Run Victim

Someone crashed into a fire hydrant at the corner of Harbor Drive and Grape Street overnight and it took city crews more than an hour to shut off the gushing water.

San Diego police got the call around 1:00 a.m. that someone had run over the hydrant.

According to witnesses two trucks were speeding south on Harbor Drive and as they turned on Grape Street a truck lost control and ran over the hydrant.

Officers are still looking for the driver of a Ford Ranger-type truck with damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle.

Taxi Driver Sergey Alkhimov watched as the suspect pulled over and asked the other driver if he was okay before taking off.
