Chula Vista police officers are on the lookout for a man who robbed an Otay Ranch High School student on his way home from school Friday.

The 16-year-old student was walking home alone around 3:45 p.m. He was headed northbound on La Media Road near East Palomar Street when he was approached by a man traveling in the same direction.

The suspect threatened the student with a box cutter and stole his cell phone.

Police say the man was described as a Hispanic male with short black hair and brown eyes who was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and blue jeans. He was about 5-foot-11 and weighed about 170 pounds, according to the police report.
