Fire Reported at Pancho Villa Mercado in North Park

A popular North Park grocery store was closed temporarily Wednesday when a fire broke out inside a vent area on the roof of the building.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews responded to the Pancho Villa Farmer's Market on El Cajon Boulevard near 34th Street just after 5 a.m.

Employees were standing outside the building while firefighters went inside to check out the source of the smoke.

The fire was quickly extinguished and appeared to be confined to the vent area, according to SDFD officials.

No one was injured.

The market is located in the North Park community, east of Interstate 805 and south of Interstate 8.
