Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Truck

A motorcyclist was killed on northbound Interstate 805 in Lincoln Park Saturday after colliding with a truck on the freeway, CHP officials said.

The fatal accident happened around 12:20 p.m. near the 47th Street on-ramp to northbound I-805. Despite vigorous attempts to revive the motorcyclist, officials said he died at the scene.

CHP officials issued a SigAlert and shut down the ramp following the crash. No other injuries were reported.

A report released later by the Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as 58-year-old National City resident Patric Wade Patterson.

According to the ME report, Patterson was traveling on the 47th Street on-ramp at a high rate of speed when traffic ahead had come to a stop due to a funeral procession on the I-805. Patterson failed to stop and crashed his motorcycle into the rear of a pickup truck.

By the time medics arrived, he no longer had a pulse and had suffered blunt force trauma, the ME report said.
