Koch Brothers Met in SD for Secret Conference

Two of the country's richest men gathered political donors at a local resort

Two of the country's richest men gathered in secret at a San Diego resort on Monday, bringing together political donors for a conservative campaign.

Security guards turned away traffic at the Park Hyatt Aviara over the weekend, protecting guests at the "Path to Freedom" conference.

Hotel officials confirmed that billionaires Charles and David Koch bought had exclusive use of the luxury resort since Friday.

A reporter for our media partner, the North County Times and freelancer Eric Wolff breached security and entered the hotel through the golf course. He took photos of the gathering, which was swarming with security guards.

The Koch Brothers will contribute and help raise hundreds of millions of dollars this year for conservative causes and the GOP effort to defeat President Obama. Some guests at the conference could raise a million dollars each.

The gathering is not usual during campaign season, said political consultant John Dadian.

"That's really all that's happening here: 'Let's put our resources together for the common good, that we want,' Dadian said. "That happens on both sides of the aisle."
