A 3-acre brush fire burned for several hours Thursday afternoon in Sorrento Valley.
Crews were working to extinguish the fire in the area of Camino Santa Fe and Miratech Place, just south of Mira Mesa Boulevard.
The fire was burning in a heavy populated area just north of MCAS Miramar. It was put out just before 5 p.m.
One person reported seeing smoke as far away as State Route 56 and Interstate 15 in the Carmel Mountain Ranch area.
No injuries or evacuations have been reported and no structures were threatened.
The fire, which started at 1:30 p.m., was burning at a slow rate of spread, officials said.
