Brush Fire Breaks Out in Poway

NBCSanDiego

A small brush fire is burning a hillside in Poway.

The fire broke out shortly after 3 p.m. in the 13000 Pomerado Road on Tuesday.

Several trucks are on scene. No structures appear to be threatened by the blaze. So far, a single acre has  been charred by the fire, which is located not far from Meadowbrook Middle School. The school conducted voluntary evacuations after the fire broke out, but with the fire moving in the opposite direction, the children went back inside classrooms at a little before 4 p.m.

At about 3:45, Copter One arrived at the scene and began to make water drops on the scene, joined by firefighters on the ground and engine crews. Still, at 4 p.m. fire was still burning up the hillside, though the ground crews appeared to be getting a handle on the blaze.
