The NCAA Basketball season starts in about two weeks. San Diego State is ranked in the Top 25 of EVERY major and minor preseason poll. Some have the Aztecs as low as 22. Others have them as high as 11.

The bottom line is, SDSU is a hot name right now, for a lot of different reasons.

Just this week, NBCSports.com was throwing all kinds of accolades at the Aztecs. In the Peacock's Poll, San Diego State is ranked number 11, ahead of teams like Michigan St,. Duke, Gonzaga, North Carolina and UCLA.

NBCSports.com also says the Aztecs have the 3rd-best backcourt (guards Jamaal Franklin, Chase Tapley, James Rahon and Xavier Thames) IN THE ENTIRE NATION, behind only Missouri and Michigan.

The Aztecs are kind of a big deal. Of course, they were also a big deal two years ago when they were ranked in the top 5 and made a run to the Sweet 16. The difference is, this time they can sustain the hype.

If the Aztecs can pull off the opening night win over Syracuse on the Battle On The Midway, SDSU will not just be one of those dangerous teams that plays in a non-major conference. They'll be one of the best programs in America, regardless of conference.
