Thank God for Humphreys because they just added Café Tacvba, Latin alternative's finest -- the often imitated never duplicated, to next month's calendar. Tickets went on sale Friday for their Sept. 4 show in San Diego. This is your chance to catch the fellas on their 14-city U.S. “El Objeto” tour, which promises fans a much more visceral and uplifting experience to hear their seventh studio album, El Objeto Antes Llamado.
In June, I actually got a chance to preview “El Objeto” tour in Tijuana, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. It was a spiritual Tacvba-style pow-wow, with Ruben Albarrán (lead vocals) as our chief. You will leave the show with your spirits lifted to all new high and you will have experienced Café's new album the way it was intended.
"Because of the size of the show and the concept of the new album, we pretty much are playing the whole album with some b-sides from the last albums," Emmanuel "Meme" del Real Díaz told me. "If people are coming to hear a cascade of hit this is not the show."
Thanks to Café Tacvba's new concert format, Humphreys will be folding up the chairs to make this a general admission - standing room only event. There will be no dinner show or hotel packages available. Get your tickets now before they sell-out.
