T-Minus 1 Week to SoundDiego LIVE

Party with us at our next SoundDiego LIVE event Thursday, July 30, at Soda Bar

Fresh on the heels of our June Ocean Beach part-tay, we are cordially inviting you to rawk with us at our next SoundDiego LIVE, which takes over Soda Bar in exactly one week on Thursday, July 30!

Next week's bash will be hosted by beloved 91x radio host and music director Robin Roth, and we’ve packed it with a hosted happy hour by one of the raddest craft brewers in town, Belching Beaver Brewery -- and three of the best bands in the San Diego music scene to boot: The New Regime, Madly and Future Crooks. If you're unfamiliar with any of the bands on the bill, you shouldn’t be.

"Ilan Rubin has played drums with Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves and Paramore, just to name a few," Roth told us. "But you may not know that Ilan has a solo project under The New Regime moniker. His latest album, ‘Exhibit B,’ dropped at the end of March, and I'm looking forward to hearing these songs live."

We are, too. So much that we actually interviewed Rubin before the band’s headlining show at the Casbah in May. [Read it here] But we didn’t stop there. Oh, no, the party’s just getting started.

"There has been a major buzz about both opening bands," Roth said. "Madly feature former members of Black Hondo [Lucina and Tino Gonzalez], the Nervous Wreckords [Cindy Cate] and Marsupials [David Robles]. This combination makes for a soulful, psychedelic rock experience like no other."

Madly’s been on our radar ever since their inception -- we even named their frontwoman to our list of San Diego’s Top Entertainers [read it here]. Of course, we like to keep the fun in the family, too, and we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that Robles is one of our SoundDiego TV videographers. Dude plays wicked guitar and edits killer videos -- he's a true double threat!

Last but definitely not least, we tapped Future Crooks to open our party, and we aren’t the only ones in town raving about the band.

Roth explained: "The indie pop-punk vibe of Future Crooks is the project of Mike Rogers, and one of the first things you may notice is the resemblance to the local band Weatherbox. Coincidence? I think not. Weatherbox frontman Brian Warren actually played guitar on the band’s debut album, ‘Future Crooks in Paradise,’ which is what initially caught my attention."

Of course, a SoundDiego LIVE party wouldn't be complete without dishing out some happy hour freebies to folks that RSVP early! Belching Beaching Brewery will be our San Diego craft-beer brewing partner on Thursday, and if you haven't had their award-winning beer, you'll finally have your chance to get some fo' free!

The party starts at 8:30 p.m., so show up early for some brews, and then head to the front of the Soda Bar stage for all the rawk you can handle.
