The Palace Ballroom headlined SoundDiego LIVE XXVIII.
It’s another one of those weekends where I have no gigs and look forward to checking out all kinds of events in San Diego.
On Friday, one of my favorite DJ nights, F---ing in the Bushes, hits the Whistle Stop for your Britpop dance party fix. El Puro Party with DJs Colourvision, Kimbo and Adam Salter is at El Camino. Coachella band Cloud Nothings hits the Casbah and San Diego favorites the Styletones are at Bar Pink.
Once you partake of Record Store Day on 4/20, head over to the CityBeat Festival of Beers in front of the Lafayette Hotel. Live performances from the Palace Ballroom, Okapi Sun, the Paragraphs and Family Wagon. More details via this link. One of my local show picks for later that night is the Creepy Creeps, Mrs. Magician, Black Hondo and the New Kinetics at The Casbah. What’s not to love about that lineup? Plus, Soda Bar presents Beach Fossils and Mrs. Magician at the Irenic. At the Shakedown Bar, it’s Deadbolt, Chinese Rocks, Schitzophonics and Embalmers. The Pheasants and Gloomsday are celebrating both of their CD releases with performances at the Tin Can. Plus, Sublime tribute band 40 Oz. To Freedom headline at the Belly Up. On the DJ tip, Boys & Girls brings you the Office Twins, Third Twin and Adam Salter at El Dorado. Plus, there’s the indie fashion show and dance party Diamond Dust with host MayStar, ‘80s vs. ‘90s with DJs Gabe Vega and Saul Q at the Whistle Stop and Neon Beat with the best and worst of the ‘80s and ‘90s at Bar Pink.
On Sunday starting at noon, it’s Opening Day of Intervention at the Hard Rock Hotel. Swedish DJ duo Cazzette with Norin & Rad kick off the festivities. Grab more info here.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
