Every Wednesday, with the help of our friends in the local music community, we share free music on SoundDiego with the Download of the Wednesday.
Today, we offer "Backburner" by Mike Pinto, a San Diego-based singer/songwriter storyteller. With a reggae, ska, and surf-rock backdrop, Pinto shares anecdotes of addiction, temptation and heartbreak. Originally from Philadelphia, Pinto moved to San Diego in 2006 and immersed himself in the Southern California music scene. In 2007, he teamed up with professional skateboarder/drummer Check Treece (Pearl Jam, G Love, Bad Brains) to record Pinto's highly infectious self-titled release.
No stranger to touring abroad, Pinto has played sold-out shows in Guam and the Hawaiian islands. I had the opportunity to chat with him on LegitRadio about his music and his upcoming show at the Belly Up Tavern (March 12) with One Drop and Tommy Dubs. An affable chap, Pinto will be playing an acoustic show on Thursday night at Bar Ninety.
