Alt-J return to San Diego, this time for a sold-out show at SOMA.

There's a magical thing I feel when I look at a night's listings and see three incredible shows that are all sold out. The Afghan Whigs caused a big stir after releasing their first record in more than 14 years, so it's no suprise this one sold out. And then there's Alt-J, who sold out the Casbah on their first outing to San Diego, and who are playing Madison Square Garden in the spring -- it's not shocking that this one is sold out, either. And then, of course, the Melvins, who have had a decades-spanning career, always make their way to the Casbah. Buzz and the crew will certainly bring their A game on Friday night. If you don't have tickets to any of these, St. Lucia (who also sold out the Casbah) have a show at Humphrey's, my friend Matt gets a little country at Sycamore Den, and there's an album-release party for "Sonido de laa Frontera" ("Sounds of the Border") at  theTil Two Club.
