Murdoch Unveils His Next Big Idea

News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch wasn't going to let a little blizzard get in the way of the launch of his newest big idea: an iPad only publication that is supposed to knock your socks off.

The initial launch of the Daily in San Francisco got bumped and moved to New York City after a production glitch and an undisclosed illness by one Steve Jobs.

Wednesday morning at the Guggenheim Museum, a beaming Murdoch unveiled his latest pet project.  Murdoch put $30 million behind the Daily. It also has the backing of 100 A-list journalists, who have been working for the beta site for months.

You have to have an iPad to see it, but if you do it does appear to come with every bell and whistle possible. That list includes 360 degree photos, HD video and customizable sports data. What it doesn't have is a printing press.

The Daily has been a buzz for months, but the one last kept secret, which was unveiled Wednesday was the price.  Murdoch said it will cost 14 cents per day or 99 cents per week.   You can also get a yearly subscription for $40.  All can be purchased directly through iTunes.
