Check out Robin Roth's music guide around town this weekend including, IndieFest 8 with Talib Kweli and Cake
It’s a great weekend to be in San Diego. The fabulous Tiki Oasis invades America’s Finest City with a Hawaiian Hootenany through Sunday featuring live bands, burlesque, DJs and more. Grab your details here.
On Friday, the Del Mar Summer Concert Series continues with Steel Pulse at the racetrack. Alex Bleeker & the Freaks headline at Soda Bar. The Casbah has a great lineup with Get Back Loretta, Deadly Birds, Stripes & Lines and I Used to Model. Geezer, Red Pony Clock and Secret Seven play at the Merrow. For your dancing shoes, El Puro Party takes over El Camino with DJs Mike Delgado and Adam Salter.
One of my other big picks for this weekend is San Diego IndieFest 8 at Liberty Station in Point Loma. Cake, Best Coast, Talib Kweli, Steve Grand, the Heavy Guilt and dozens more play live. Tickets for Friday and Saturday include free admission Sunday and you can get more info via this link.
Don’t miss Weezer on Saturday at the racetrack as part of the Del Mar Concert Series. Local bands The Burning of Rome, Boy King (CD Release), Hills Like Elephants and Gloomsday rock the Casbah and Selebrities headline at Soda Bar. For your dancing fix, Fashion Whore moves to its new location at U-31 with an early event starting at 8 p.m. and you can get more info here. Plus, Boys & Girls features Touch Sensitive with White on Rice (Kimbo + Timmy 2 Shoes) vs. Wine On Ice (Adam Salter) at El Dorado.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
