Del Mar Concert Series Announces 2012 Lineup

The Del Mar Concert Series announced its lineup today, and they've landed some big names.

The annual concert series will kick off on July 20 with San Diego's own Wavves. The noise-pop band fronted by Nathan Williams has built a strong national audience in recent years, but it's always nice to see them play their hometown. Wavves' last local appearance was at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards, where they were nominated for Album of the Year.

Other bands slated to appear at the Del Mar Concert Series include emo mainstays Dashboard Confessional on July 27 and radio staples Cake (who have played the Del Mar series before) on August 4.

On August 10, the Offspring will bring their accessible brand of punk to the concert series. The band is best known for rocking hits like "Come Out and Play," "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "Self Esteem." However, if the Offspring's latest video is any indication, they seem to be courting a somewhat...different audience lately.

Other performers scheduled to play the Del Mar Concert Series include Michael Franti & Spearhead on August 17, Ben Harper on August 18 and Jimmy Cliff on August 24.

Each show will take place on the aptly named Seaside Stage with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean behind it. As always, admission to the concerts is free for people attending the races. Following the last race, getting into a show will run you $20.
