The Padres have officially filled out their 2009 coaching staff, naming Jim Lefebvre as hitting coach and Ted Simmons as bench coach.
Lefebvre has been the Padres minor league hitting instructor for the last three seasons. He has also managed three major league teams, winning 417 games with the Mariners, Cubs and Brewers.
As a player, Simmons was one of the best switch-hitters in baseball history. He played 21 season in the big leagues, making eight All-Star teams. Simmons ranks 4th all-time in RBI for switch-hitters, behind Eddie Murray, Mickey Mantle and George Davis.
