Padre Wins Golden Glove

He's becoming the best all-around first baseman in the National League, and now Adrian Gonzalez needs more room in his trophy case.

The Padre slugger won his first career Gold Glove Wednesday as the best defensive first baseman in the NL.  He had a .996 fielding percentage last season.

Gonzalez is the ninth Padre, and first San Diego first baseman, to win a Gold Glove. Former Padres pitcher Greg Maddux also won another trophy, the record 18th time he's done it.

"It feels good to be honored for my defense," Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez also led the Padres with 36 home runs and 119 runs batted in.
