Carlsbad has been named one of the cities to host a Women’s Tennis Association 125K Series tournament in November.
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced on Monday that Carlsbad will host the Carlsbad Classic Tennis Tournament Nov. 21-29 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort.
The WTA 125K Series, a secondary professional tennis circuit, has tournaments all over the world. The event offers a total prize money of $125,000, with matches include a 32-player singles draw, an eight-player qualifying draw and an eight-team doubles draw.
The singles champion will win $20,000 in prize money.
