B.A.S.E. Jumper Tames Kilimanjaro

Man jumps off Africa's highest peak in a wingsuit, and records it!

As you probably already know, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. So, if you're visiting, obviously the best thing to do is climb up and jump off.

Fifty-year-old Russian Valery Rozov, a renowned BASE jumper and wingsuit flyer, went to Tanzania, summited the highest point (19,340 feet up), then jumped from the top of the Western Breach Wall, the nearest and most suitable exit point but a rather pedestrian 17.913 feet in the air.

Rozov traveled a horizontal distance of almost 2 miles, landing at Barranco Camp (12,959 feet) after spending more than a minute in free-fall. He's the first person ever to successfully jump off Mount Kilimanjaro.

Red Bull was nice enough to send over video of the hike up, and the harrowing flight down. If you're afraid of heights, you might want to sit this one out.
