Aztecs Set Out to Take on the Lobos

The San Diego State Aztecs Men's Basketball team will play the New Mexico Lobos in Albuquerque on Saturday and hopefully extend their winning streak to 19 and O.

Whether you're a basketball fan or not, this is an amazing feat for the Aztecs.

The Associated Press and an ESPN/USA Today poll both have SDSU ranked number 6 in the country.

Earlier this week, they beat UNLV, a team some people call one of the best teams in the country.

The Lobos have always been a tough opponent at home and some have talked about this game being the one where the Aztecs break their win streak.

It's already a school record 18 and 0 and one of only four undefeated teams in the nation.
But Coach Steve Fisher and his team will be going for the longest streak in the country.

"I said in October, we'll see if we're still in the mix October 8th and the 9th and we're still in the mix, and that's our
goal to stay there," Coach Fisher said.

The current number one ranked team in the country, Duke University had the longest winning streak of 25 games, but they lost earlier this week.

Is a number one ranking possible?  Perhaps. Three other undefeated teams play tough opponents this weekend. If the Aztecs keep winning, they have a real chance at that number one spot.
