The San Diego Padres announced their 2009 Spring Training schedule, in what will be the club’s 16th Spring in Peoria, AZ.
Padres pitchers and catchers report to Peoria on February 14, while position players report on February 17. San Diego begins play on February 25 in their annual Charity Game against the Seattle Mariners. Official Cactus League action begins February 26, as the Padres again host the Mariners at Peoria Stadium.
The Padres 32-game Cactus League slate includes 16 Peoria Stadium home games. The 2009 Spring schedule also features an exhibition contest with a World Baseball Classic Asian Qualifying team on March 11 in Peoria and concludes with two SoCal Series Exhibition games against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, April 3-4. San Diego will host the April 3 game at PETCO Park at 7:05 p.m. PDT while the April 4 contest will be played at Anaheim Stadium with a 6:05 p.m. PDT start time.
Following the final game against the Angels, the Padres return to San Diego for a workout on April 5 before starting the regular season on April 6 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers at 4:05 p.m. PDT.
